The good thing about homemade breads are that there are no additives. Lecithins or improvers. The other thing I find helpful is that the size and shape can be customized. Be it breads or buns or dinner rolls. And the same recipe when aesthetically different, makes such a huge difference. These are homemade burger buns but I have made it the size of sliders. They are delightfully soft yet have a bite and have the strength to hold anything you choose to stack in them. No more flimsy soggy Burgers.
2tsp instant dry yeast
1/2 cup warm milk
1/4cup warm water
2tbsp butter, melted
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
In a bowl combine yeast, salt, milk, water, melted butter and flour. Bring together into a dough and knead until soft and pliable.
Place in a lightly oiled bowl and allow to rice in a warm place for one hour or until doubled in size.
Once risen. knock back the air and give a brief knead. Divide into 6 equal portions. Roll into buns and place on a lined baking sheet to prove for half hour.
Meanwhile preheat your oven to 200C. Brush the top of the buns with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake for 15 – 18 mins until golden.
Allow to cool completely before slicing.
Now build your burger tower !!
